The new condo owner at The Claridge, who was relocating from New York back to Dallas, purchased a stunning treetop condo overlooking Turtle Creek. After buying the condominium, she met with the building's management team, who referred her to their list of preferred remodeling contractors.

There were only two, and she invited both of them to provide a remodeling estimate. The first "preferred" contractor sent her a text message with a brief description. The other "preferred" contractor just called and verbally provided an estimate and a scope overview.

After renovating in Manhattan and being a seasoned Realtor and Real Estate investor, the owner found these contractors extremely unprofessional. They did not provide a written estimate, their means of communication, and their estimates seemed too high.

She visited with other condo owners in the building, who had work done by those contractors, and found the finish quality subpar. Determined to find the right luxury high-rise renovation team, she searched the web and found Renowned Renovation online. She was impressed with Renowned's NARI credentials, Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards, and our high-rise condo remodeling portfolio.

Design direction: he original entry area was very traditional with mirrored walls and fluted columns. We removed all the traditional décor and opened up a wall to allow direct access to the kitchen. This allowed for a new feel and décor which was where we used a dark moody horizontal stripe wallcovering and married it to Benjamin Moore’s Black Beauty on the trim and doors. Our wood floors are a beautifully refinished and stained classic herringbone pattern. These touches of dark moodiness play well with the alluring chandelier and brightly colored sofa for a dramatic feel.

Moody Kitchen Design idea

The ultimate request was to be able to view the lush landscape overlooking the Katy Trail. This where the challenges really became clear due to the main plumbing lines set long ago in the building. The existing lines blocked the view and provided no room for change. The kitchen had to be designed around this plumbing column which set the intent for the remaining space

Design direction: Overall the owner wanted a moody modern feel throughout. This kitchen did not benefit from natural light but with natural materials and the open flow we were able to create a clean but moody feel with the contrast of black cabinets and a light quartzite for counters and backsplash. After opening the walls between living, dining and kitchen we decided to raise and level the ceilings for a continuous lofty feel. The Kitchen redesign also included a hidden stackable custom laundry cabinet, which allowed for the addition of the Ensuite Guest Bath.

Special features: Custom StyleCraft Kitchen Cabinets that were factory finished with Benjamin Moore’s Black Beauty (2128-10) in a satin sheen. The countertops are Sea pearl-quartzite. The appliances feature a Bertazzoni cabinet-ready dishwasher,  a Bertazzoni French-door refrigerator and a Bosch Built-in flush Microwave Drawer.

Design direction: The existing powder bath was redecorated on the fickle side of moody. The wallcovering is wild and whimsical while the contrasting geometric floor tile gives a nod to art deco. That leads us to the drama of the console sink with its beautiful acrylic legs and gold fixtures. A much needed grounding for the small space with an overall lightness of the walls that keep it airy.

Special Features:  Cambria Mercey with laminated edges countertop, a Kallista sink and Palmer acrylic console legs and the bathroom floor tile is Daltile Tribeca Glossy Mixed TBC03

Design direction: The Master Bath needed some updates as it suffered from an out of date, extra large tub, a very small shower and only one sink. Keeping with the Mood, a new larger vanity was added in a beautiful dark green with two sinks and ample drawer space, finished with gold framed mirrors and two glamorous gold leaf sconces. Taking in a small linen closet allowed for more room at the shower which is enclosed by a dramatic black framed door. Also, the old tub was replaced with a new alluring freestanding tub surrounded by beautiful marble tiles in a large format that sits under a deco glam chandelier. All warmed by the use of gold fixtures and hardware.

Special Features: Custom StyleCraft Vanity that were factory finished with Benjamin Moore’s Salamander (2050-10) in a satin sheen. The countertop is a MSI Premium Plus White Quartz The Shower walls and the Bathroom floor are Daltile’s Marble M048/ Stormy Mist. The Shower floor is Daltile’s Lungarno Ceramic/ Oro Chevron Tile
